Alexandra Howie's work is inspired by the carved and sculpted marble drapery of the Classical and Hellenistic periods. In this work drapery spills from the opening of this archetypal vase form. The milkstone glaze which reveals the clay body at the apex of each ripple reinforces the themes of concealment and revelation. A one-off unique work from Surfacing, Alexandra Howie's 2025 exhibition for Melbourne Design Week.
