This commanding vessel exemplifies Howies practice, merging the classical and contemporary. Large Half-Draped Bottle is handbuilt from fine white stoneware and features sweeping folds that tighten around the neck of the bottle evoking a somewhat visceral response. A layered surface treatment of clear gloss, white cream, and blue rutile wash glazes create a soft interplay of sheen, shadow, and subtle color shifts. The result is a work that feels expressive and monumental. A one-off work from Surfacing, Alexandra Howie's 2025 exhibition for Melbourne Design Week.
