Caitlin Rigby

Caitlin Rigby is an emerging artist based in Melbourne, Australia who has already received numerous accolades in her young career.

Rigby creates moody monochromatic work using sweeping calligraphic brushstrokes that fill the canvas edge-to-edge. Her singular preferred mix of pigments is Paynes Grey, which used in various dilutions from almost translucent washes to intense, inky blacks create works that are layered with a sense of grief and bittersweet sorrow.

Rigby has exhibited widely, developing her practice through numerous group and solo exhibitions, while simultaneously studying Fine Art at RMIT. In 2022 Rigby was the recipient of the Chapman & Bailey Award for Excellence in Contemporary Painting. And on graduation in 2023 Caitlin was awarded a place on the Vice-Chancellor's List for Academic Excellence.
